Statement
I view my artistic journey as a parallel to my life and mission as a mother. Learning, exploring, experimenting, changing, and growing. I am fascinated by the many mediums and techniques available for artistic expression. I enjoy being exposed to new ideas, materials, and methods to experience.
I believe God has created each and everyone of us as His own personal work of art. I have been given three of His personal works of art in the lives of my beautiful children. As a mother, God grants us the special opportunity to join Him in the development of these precious works of art. He gives us the canvas, raw materials, and basic composition in the little human life form of our child. He allows us the liberty of creating values, character, emotional content, and depth; developing centers of interest and adding in splashes of color for fun. It’s challenging, requires exploration and experimentation, creativity, development from trial and error, and a lot of perseverance. I approach each new piece of art that I am creating like a child to be developed and enriched for it's own unique purpose. I learn and grow everyday from each experience in raising my children and from each artistic endeavor.
At the heart of my work you will find hope, peace, joy and serenity in the beauty that surrounds us everyday. I believe these qualities are keys to unlocking the infinite possibilities that exist for every person, every one of God’s own personal works of art.
Biography
After the blessed creation of my three beautiful children and fifteen years of the office world of corporate America, the creative artist in me yearned for the chance to get out and play.
The first painting that I entered into a competition was the winner of the 2005 Historic Bethlehem Holiday Card competition. “The Bell House” painting was published on holiday greeting cards and auctioned at their annual holiday dinner with proceeds benefiting the Historic Bethlehem Partnership.
I studied drawing and painting at the Baum School of Art in Allentown, PA, the Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA, and through private art instruction. I have also taken various workshops in faux finishing and decorative painting. I continue to enrich my artistic development at “The University of the Self-Taught” through various media. I am a member of the Bethlehem Palette Club (BPC) and the Art Community of Easton (ACE).
